David Reed’s One Handed Shooting Drill

By David Reed @dcrtag · On August 14, 2014

One handed shooting including transitioning from one hand to the other.

Setup: 3×5″ Index cards, a wide target stand or two target stands, and a pro timer or friend with stopwatch.

Start with cards stapled up 2 feet apart. Draw weapon to the ready and hold it in Primary Weapon Hand @ 3 yards.
Time is 10 seconds on the clock.
Fire one shot from PWH then safely transition to Support Hand and fire 1, then back to PWH and so on until time is up.
Go for 3 good hits per card in the 10 seconds.

Next repeat but fire pairs with each hand and try for 6 hits per card in 10 sec.

Then repeat singles at 5 yards and move on to pairs. Par is the same!

Then 7 yards, going for 2 hits per card with singles and 4 hits per card with doubles.

You a pro? Shoot the drill at 10 yards, cards at 3′ apart!
